BILLINGS, MT-For the third year in a row, Yellowstone County high school students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare will have the opportunity to participate in the High School Healthcare Immersion Day. Taking place on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025, the Immersion Day gives area high school students hands-on experiences and an in-depth look at healthcare careers through job shadowing at Billings Clinic and Intermountain Health. With healthcare being Yellowstone County’s number one industry, and for a state with an aging and rural population, working to fill the healthcare pipeline is more critical than ever.
Eligible students had to have attended the Careers in Healthcare Student Summit in the fall of 2024 and apply to participate in Immersion Day. Students were matched with specific areas of healthcare based on their career interests and are job shadowing a professional in that area in the morning. Following lunch students will participate in hands-on simulation training and engaging activities with Billings Clinic Simulation Lab.
“The Healthcare Immersion Day is a crucial opportunity for high school students to explore the diverse healthcare career pathways, especially as the demand for healthcare professionals in Montana continues to grow. By gaining firsthand experience from industry experts and participating in hands-on simulation training, students can develop essential skills and a deeper understanding of the field. Engaging in this experience not only ignites their passion for healthcare but also enhances their future opportunities, here in Montana. This Immersion Day will help provide them with a competitive edge for college programs, internships, and careers in a high-demand industry.” -Nikole Bakko, Eastern MT AHEC
