(Billings, MT) Par Montana, LLC (“Par Montana”) on Monday, July 10, announced that the company will commit up to $2 million to support passage of the Billings Parks, Trails and Recreation Bond.

The company is part of a community coalition that has stepped up help defray taxpayer cost of the proposed community investment that is targeted to improve several parks, facilities and trails across Billings. The hallmark of the proposed bond issue will be a $110 million multi-generation recreation facility in the southcentral part of the city.

Par Montana Refinery Manager Kim Jakub told the Billings City Council on Monday night that the company has pledged $1 million in private support – payable over 10 years upon passage by taxpayers in November – for the bond issue. The company has also committed to match up to $1 million in donations made by other businesses.

In addition, the company will immediately provide $20,000 to support the upcoming campaign that will promote passage of the bond issue.

Jakub said the scope of projects across the Billings community is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to substantially upgrade public infrastructure that touches every sector of the community. Par Montana is eager to support the initiative, she said, and by committing more than $2 million, it demonstrates Par Montana’s commitment.

“This donation represents a commitment by Par Montana to be an active and engaged member of the greater Billings community into the future,” she said. “It is the kind of private/public collaboration that Par Montana believes is important for sustainable growth and development of the community.”

This donation represents one of many ways in which Par Montana is now and will continue to be involved in Billings and Yellowstone County, Jakub said. For example, employees have for years been an integral part of the Montana Women’s Run, Big Sky State Games, Habitat for Humanity, STEM outreach and the annual United Way campaign.
