Get to Know Steve Simonson!

Joining our Community Development Department is Steve Simonson! He answered a few questions to help us get to know him, check them out below! Please join us in welcoming Steve to the team!


What town do you now call home? 

Billings, MT

 

Where did you grow up? 

Glendive, MT

 

Career background before joining the BSED team? 

Wow! I was the grass pro on several golf courses for 15 years prior to returning to my wife’s family farm near Thompson Falls, Montana. We grew peppermint and I started and sold three small businesses including Big Sky Tea. I also had a “town job” with a new start up organization Sanders County Community Development Corporation. My economic and community development experience extended into Colorado, serving as Executive Director of Trinidad Las Animas County EDC. I was also later involved with CSU Venture Capital and the Innosphere projects in Fort Collins. Most recently I served a five county region as Economic Development Director for Beartooth Resource, Conservation and Development.

 

What is something most people don’t know about you? 

I’m left handed and golf right handed.

What’s your favorite snack? 

Chips, all kinds!

 

What was your first job?

Mowing Lawns.

 

How do you prefer to start your day?

I watch the John Maxwell videos online.

 

What led you to this career field?

I like to make a difference in the community that I live in. Community development is a natural fit for me and helps me to serve our community.
