Meet Our 2022 EDA/EDC Board Chairs

Big Sky Economic Development (BSED) is a public-private partnership. The Big Sky Economic Development Authority (EDA), the public agency, evolved from the Montana TradePort Authority launched in 1989 by the Yellowstone County Board of Commissioners.

Big Sky Economic Development Corporation (EDC), the private business side, was started in 2002. Over 145 of the county’s top businesses are member-investor partners in the EDC. Together, the organization’s mission is to sustain and grow Yellowstone County’s vibrant economy and outstanding quality of life, by providing leadership and resources for business creation, expansion, retention, new business recruitment and community development.

What influenced you to join the BSED Board of Directors?

The Community Leaders/Mentors that have been and continue to be on the Board(s) and the constant flow of projects coming to fruition through Big Sky Economic Development programs. The opportunities that arise through BSED that allow diverse contributions and shape the very communities that we live in with tangible results.

What excites you most about the direction of BSED, AND how will you contribute to it?

BSED consistently presents various opportunities that directly affect not only Yellowstone County and the City of Billings but also throughout the State of Montana. The exceptional Team at BSED strives to meet needs and have the ability to be flexible and innovative as the work may demand. Being able to quickly respond to many tangents and still be able to accomplish goals is exciting and impressive to say the least. My priority of contribution is actively participating in any and all ways that I am able. The only way to get things started and completed is with the active participation of all those involved.

What influenced you to join the BSED Board of Directors?

I wanted to get more involved with the community and help promote the growth of existing businesses.

What excites you most about the direction of BSED, AND how will you contribute to it?

I am excited for the next chapter of Billings.  BSED is helping the community through its growing pains in so many ways.  We are involved and leading the community in almost every aspect of growth.  Not only in the multitude of programs that we support but also pulling so many public and private groups together.

What is your favorite thing about the Billings Community?

I love that it is large enough to have the city amenities but still small enough that an individual can still make a difference.  I also enjoy the lifelong personal and professional relationships that I have from being a 4th generation Billings native.

What is your favorite snack?

My wife’s Oatmeal Raisin cookies!
