MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Karen Grosz with Canvas Creek Team Building

We asked Karen to answer a few questions to help us get to know her better.

What inspired you to start your own business and what was your biggest challenge? I’m a serial entrepreneur, and every job, every company I’ve owned, brought me full circle to this idea. My mission is to help people think creatively and collaboratively, to understand that every voice is a valued contribution to the process. The biggest challenge is the age-old marketing, getting the word out, and staying true to the brand, not to the possibilities of one-time big money events.

What are some of the most important skills you’ve developed as a business owner? Discernment. Where and with whom I should spend my time. Patience. Part of being in business must be waiting for the right moment. A “By Damn” attitude. I will not fail, even during covid, when team building was not a thing.

What is your best advice for someone starting a new business? Remember that someone is currently praying for the solution you offer. And wait two weeks before making a big decision.

What is most important to you about your business? It’s reputation. I am very protective of how we deliver our experience and how we are perceived.

Is there anything else you would like to mention about your business? I love it. Even on the days I don’t. When I get in the mix with a team, and the electricity is flowing though the team in front of the canvas, I am 100% all in.
