In 1947, Carter Oil Company began construction on what is now known as the ExxonMobil Billings Refinery. Since the refinery’s beginning, it has been a premier facility distributing refined products such as gasoline and diesel across the Rocky Mountain region. The Billings complex produces roughly 60,000 barrels per day of crude oil. The refinery is situated on 720 acres, including 110 acres that has received a Wildlife Habitat certification. The Billings refinery is one of seven ExxonMobil refineries in the United States. ExxonMobil is the world’s largest publicly traded international oil and gas company, providing energy that helps underpin growing economies and improve living standards around the world.
