Thank you all for joining us in early August for the BSED-DCI Interactive Workshop at the Billings Public Library. We appreciate your engagement, participation and ideas. We love that “Montana’s City” resonated with so many of you. It’s a phrase we have been slowly incorporating over the past two years into our work at BSED, on our Better Off in Billings website and something we used at our Annual Meeting last year. We are excited to expand upon this messaging, in partnership with our strategy partners (Yellowstone County, City of Billings, Visit Billings, Downtown Billings Alliance, and the Billings Chamber) and you all!
Attached you will find:

BSED Next Steps after Workshop:
- Schedule meeting with strategy partners to discuss best next steps for internal and external messaging campaigns
- Updated workshop group on this meeting
- Update “betteroffinbillings.org” to incorporate ideas from workshop, in addition to research findings from DCI research (internal and external)
- Updated workshop group on updates
- Industry Map – thanks to the RDO, Offutt Family Foundation, we received a grant last fall, we have been working on digital and interactive industry map project. We are close to launching the map, phase two will be to capture the career fields of Billings residents that work at our BSED Member Investor organizations to highlight on the map. The purpose is to showcase education pathways to careers in industries located here in Billings. A project targeted for local students and others to inform them of unique career opportunities here in our community.
- Better Off in Billings Event – each year we host a Better Off in Billings event in the spring. We would love to take the idea from the workshop to transform this event into a day. We will collaborate with other community partner organizations to discuss what this could look like in Spring 2025.
- Updated workshop group on this idea and incorporate you all into the planning on subcommittees and provide ways for our workshop group to engage and be part of the event.
If there are additional things you are missing within this recap, please do let me know. We would love to work with you all, your organizations, your branding/communications teams, and your HR/recruitment teams to design individualized plans for you to incorporate Billings, Montana’s City into your efforts.
